Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
"Anastasia", the first book of the Ringing Cedars Series, tells the story of entrepreneur Vladimir Megre's trade trip to the Siberian taiga in 1995, where he witnessed incredible spiritual phenomena connected with sacred 'ringing cedar' trees. He spent three days with a woman named Anastasia who shared with him her unique outlook on subjects as diverse as gardening, child-rearing, healing, Nature, sexuality, religion and more. This wilderness experience transformed Vladimir so deeply that he abandoned his commercial plans and, penniless, went to Moscow to fulfil Anastasia's request and write a book about the spiritual insights she so generously shared with him. True to her promise this life-changing book, once written, has become an international best-seller and has touched hearts of millions of people world-wide.

4 out of 5 stars Interesting read   January 9, 2009
I quite enjoyed Anastasia. I had seen it advertised in 'Nexus' magazine and thought it would be a good book for me as I am always trying to better myself and expand myself spiritually. So I read it with an open mind.

I wont summarize the story as I am sure you already know the rough outline from many others.

I think most readers will question its factual claims as some of the wonderful things that Anastasia is meant to be able to do push our limits of understanding of the way reality works.

However you take this book it does give you things to think about. If you are trying to understand the world and you want some guidance in your life it certainly gets you thinking in a more positive way.

I have to say that part of me remains sceptical towards the whole thing but I have started reading the second book. Its the kind of book that even if you don't believe in it, it cant do you any harm.

Practically some of her suggestions for the way life should be are difficult to achieve and even on a personal level, I love my life the way it is and would not want to give up everything I have to return back to nature. Having said that, I have only started on the journey of understanding all she has to say so maybe I will be convinced in the end - I will keep you posted when I have finished the next book!

If you like stories and have an open mind to what reality truly is then I recommend reading it. If you are a sceptical person I don't think you will like it much!

5 out of 5 stars Our Steady Drift Into Freedom   November 15, 2008

By urging us to live green in harmony with nature, each other, the elementals, cetaceans, and space people the Ringing Cedars series have majestically stirred the devout curiosity in Russia, Europe and now in the English speaking countries.

The USA and the world are learning a lesson this time from some of the humble people of Russia who with their vegetable and fruit gardens produce more than 54 percent of Russia's total agricultural output.

This first book of Anastasia, a spiritual hermit who lives in the woods of the Siberian Taiga, is an antidote to the desire to destroy all that is good so evidently present in governments and corporations. Yet if we want to be free and happy wise Anastasia urges us to reject the noisy polluted cities, the meat eating habit, and technology worshiping.

In the face of evil this Ringing Cedars books are proving to be a thrust for a peaceful revolution, and this trend, in my opinion, could not be stopped since humans are moving ahead free from fear, antagonism, and the illusion of separation

Through a better understanding of the Oneness we all have with Flora, Fauna and other members of the Galaxy the Anastasia books are setting in motion a positive trend into a more harmonious fifth dimension reality: or the ascension.

I recommend the whole series of nine books to everyone.

This book and the rest of the series are by far the most mind blowing books I've ever read. She will I hope change the course of history with her plan for humankind. Society, being on the brink of total collapse, is in need of help and Anastasia is someone who can actually change the world. Keep an open mind and allow her to take you on a journey into her world- I guarantee you'll never be the same again.

2 out of 5 stars not worth it ...   October 19, 2008

I was all excited about this book, and, like another reader, I almost purchased the entire set at one time, - fortunately I did not. Usually I'm very forgiving when I critique a book, and I'm as gullible as the next person. Also, I'm on that same universal quest as others, seeking answers about myself in relation to this floating island we all live on, while trying to wade through all the lies and misinformation we're expected to believe.
This book offers nothing. If it's supposed to be like Russian Fairy tale, it's not. I love to read about Russia which is the only reason I was able to give Anastasia two stars.

It appears the Russians are in need a crutch and something to believe in. So now they have it (her), a mystical blonde woman, who lives out in the deep forest with all the answers to MAN'S problems. Although she may lack judgment regarding sex, and she's ostensibly subject to base human emotions; she has no qualms about handing out ideas regarding how the rest of us should live. I see it all now, Anastasia, Cedar Products, http://www.ringingcedarsofrussia.org/Main/English/ and Multi-level marketing. Alternate book title: "Gidget In The Taiga"
Forgive my cynicism.

I liked the translator's notes, probably my favorite part of the book.

1 out of 5 stars Merely a middle-aged man's fantasy   October 13, 2008

I have to report that this book is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. It reads like a middle-aged man's fantasy of a young, beautiful, innocent-yet-wise woman who will have sex with him, show him the wonders of her world, and frolic in the forest like a wood nymph (she is forever twirling around, leaping, diving into the water, and treating the animals like how you would see a Disney princess treating them - like subservient placid pets (even wild wolves and bears!)). The character Anastasia seems to be based on the character Ayla from the Earth's Children series by Jean Auel. Those books are a much better read, don't waste your money on this one.
