"Intentional" Connecting with Nature August 9, 2004 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
The Findhorn Book of CONNECTING WITH NATURE explores an entertaining range of topics designed to connect the physical, emotional, & spiritual aspects of the reader with the complete spectrum of Nature that surrounds us all.
As the authors states, "You can reclaim your natural roots & access the peace & strength of knowing where you live. The advantages of doing so are wonderful & real. The world of Nature is life affirming; it offers a healing, vitalizing alternative to the activities & distractions of the modern world."
Whether we connect with our own garden, a favorite tree, a fly on the windowsill, or the phases of the moon, John R. Stowe expertly leads us to a deeper, and more joyful, understanding of Nature's presence throughout our immediate environment.
The author uses his own observations & those of participants in his workshops to cultivate a basic theme: the benefits derived from taking time to "tune in", in order to "start cultivating a deeper relationship" with all aspects of "The Living Earth".
"All these explorations are active, ongoing, & continually evolving," the author continues. "Our goal is to learn how to move beyond the old, harmful belief in separation & to learn--each in his or her own way--how to promote a new depth of harmony & balance within ourselves & the rest of the living world."
The end of each Chapter offers a variety of exercises to further ground our "intentional connection" with the natural world. Following through on even a small portion of these "experiences" & related suggestions would definitely lead the reader to a more intentional & productive relationship with all living entities on this planet.
As with all books by John R. Stowe, ample material, is presented in an insightful, sincere, & enthusiastic manner.
With illustrations by the author and a well-annotated list of other books on related topics, The Findhorn Book of CONNECTING WITH NATURE is an excellent & intuitive guidebook for those wishing to more fully experience the many benefits derived from one's own "Intentional Connection" with the Rhythms, Power, & Beauty of our Living Earth.
This book is most highly recommended!
