Product Description
This is not your grandmother's gardening book. You Grow Girl is a hip, humorous how-to for crafty gals everywhere who are discovering a passion for gardening but lack the know-how to turn their dreams of homegrown tomatoes and fresh-cut flowers into a reality.

Gayla Trail, creator of YouGrowGirl.com, provides guidance for both beginning and intermediate gardeners with engaging tips, projects, and recipes -- whether you have access to a small backyard or merely to a fire escape. You Grow Girl eliminates the intimidation factor and reveals how easy and enjoyable it can be to cultivate plants and flowers even when resources and space are limited. Divided into accessible sections like Plan, Plant, and Grow, You Grow Girl takes readers through the entire gardening experience:

  • Preparing soil

  • Nurturing seedlings

  • Fending off critters

  • Reaping the bounty

  • Readying plants for winter

  • Preparing for the seasons ahead

Gayla also includes a wealth of ingenious and creative projects, such as:

  • Transforming your garden's harvest into lush bath and beauty products

  • Converting household junk into canny containers

  • Growing and bagging herbal tea

  • Concocting homemade pest repellents

...and much, much more.

Witty, wise, and as practical as it is stylish, You Grow Girl is guaranteed to show you how to get your garden on. All you need is a windowsill and a dream!

5 out of 5 stars Gorgeous too!   June 10, 2010
N. Kelcher (Seattle)
Not only is this book full of great tips for any gardener, the illustrations are whimsical and adorable. I found myself picking up the book just to look at the design. Well done from cover to cover!

5 out of 5 stars Great   May 24, 2010
P. Coomer (Cincinnati, Ohio United States)
The book came quickly & had lots of very useful information in it. I built the planter box from the plans inside the book. It looks great & I now have a small garden on my deck! I would recommend this book to anyone!

5 out of 5 stars Great Beginner's Guide   May 24, 2010
Dr. Yvette C. Fernandez (Atlanta, GA)
This book is fun and informative. A great guide for the beginner, especially those who live in urban apartments.

4 out of 5 stars My gift   May 9, 2010
A. Gallacher (United kingdom)
I purchased this book for my daughter who is a first time owner of a house with a garden. What first attracted me to this book was the title; it sounded young and enterprising and not just another book with 'dummies' in the title. She is really enjoying this book and finding it very helpful. Glad I got that one right!

4 out of 5 stars Hip General Gardening Book   April 19, 2010
Jill R. Gordon
I had "You Grow Girl" checked out from the library for almost a year. It was time to return it and purchase the book for myself. There are lots of easy to follow suggestions and great looking craft ideas in this book. Just wish I had more time to do them. If you live in an apartment, condo, or other urban space this is a great resource. It is a hip, fun book to read. However, it will not answer all your questions. That is okay, you can always find answers to more detailed questions on the internet.
