Product Description
The Cannabis Grow Bible fully explains both the art and science behind growing high-grade pot. Author and aficionado Greg Green blends a thorough understanding of marijuana botany with practical advice on coping with the day-to-day demands of maintaining a high-yield garden, and offers proven methods that maximize both yield and potency. Fully updated and illustrated in full color, and with techniques for both indoor and outdoor cultivation, this comprehensive guide covers everything growers need to know, including how to select the best plant genetics, soil and hydroponic grows, dealing with pests and predators, advanced systems and breeding, and protecting the crop from nosy neighbors. It also explains the “Screen of Green” technique that gives a higher yield using fewer plants. Green’s easy-to-follow instructions and the accuracy, breadth, and depth of information presented benefit newbies and professional gardeners alike.

2 out of 5 stars was this written and subsequently edited by a completely stoned person?   September 4, 2010

No offense.

This book, though attractive and nicely worded and filled with plentiful pictures of bountiful plants, lacks any concept of organization.

It basically neglects any sense of chronology-- From my experience, though this book has some great tips and info, you will need another, much more practical book, to get from start to finish on your first grow.

The lack of organization has me constantly flipping from table of contents, to 'contents', to index. I rarely find what I need. This book is frustrating, spotty, vague, (is that why it's called a Bible?! haha) and the only reason I am taking the time to review this is I am rarely this frustrated with a friggin book about growing pot.

Nice pictures though!

Excellent book. Learned a lot from the text & pictures. Would recommend it to anyone, no matter their level of prior knowledge. If you knew nothing, you'd learn a lot. If you knew a lot, you'd probably learn something new.

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME BOOK   August 3, 2010

This was the best book ive read on the subject so far. It was very informative when it came to growing outdoors as well as understanding alot about the plant itself. It touches on just about everything you would want to know about growing buds and starting your own garden. It touched on indoor gardens, guerilla gardens, hydroponics, enough to give you an idea how to start your own indoor soil or hydro garden, it even teaches you how to build your own aeroponics hydro set-up,(if you do build the one in the book, make sure you use atleast a 250 gallon per hour pump or you will regret it, they are only $20 online). This book also teaches you about breeding marijuana and creating your own strains so its good for people who already know how to grow and are looking to start breeding plants themselves. Any beginner should get this book and use it as their starting point because its easy to understand and read and before you know it you will be trimming your own buds in no time. Seriously if you want a great book that will teach you a whole lot on this subject, BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!

2 out of 5 stars Tries to be Jorge Cervantes, but isn't   June 20, 2010

This isn't a bad book, but I still preferred Jorge Cervantes Marijuana Horticulture book. It's just a better all around reference. This book tries to be a reference but also tries to teach how to get your first grow going and simply has too much information for the beginning. Frankly, I know the science is important, but its not critical to getting a good crop. I don't grow for my livelihood, just for my own medicine and I don't have the time to read a college level book to get the job done.

The other book that got me started was Grow Great Marijuana, which is like a dummies book and helped me get the basics down. Once I got things up and running, I referred to that book and the marijuana horticulture book by Jorge. The grow bible has much of the same info, more or less, but I preferred the style of the other two books. One to learn and one to reference.

4 out of 5 stars Like Cervantes, but with excellence and science added in!   June 10, 2010

The new second edition is *finally* a worthy replacement for the old Mel Frank and Ed Rosenthal volume, Marijuana Grower's Guide Deluxe: Revised Color Edition. One big complaint: it STILL lacks good nutrient deficiency photos. Nobody has this, not even Marijuana Garden Saver: Handbook for Healthy Plants (!). Why? Take a healthy plant, deprive it of one nutrient and show us some damn photos! That aside, this one edges out the new Rosenthal book. (And I happen to think the first Rosenthal book held the number one spot since the fourth edition came out in '97.) In the first edition, Green was struggling with how to present genetics. One suspects he had trouble grasping the fundamentals himself. This time 'round it's much better--even better presentation than parts of his Breeders' Bible. I can't wait for the third edition of the Grow Bible and the Second of the Breeders' Bible. (I would really like to see a more in-depth look at sexual expression; this is a tricky topic for this plant and information on it is hard to find). Alas! Somebody has put some energy into this topic! Thanks, Green and good night Cervantes, you Martha Stewart of cannabis.
